Massage is the oldest form of therapy known and
has been used throughout history as a medical treatment within
almost every culture The therapeutic value of the healing touch is
again being recognised within our health care as an aid to the
healing process as well as a means of maintaining positive good
health. The word 'Holistic' comes from the Greek word 'holos'
meaning whole and it is the whole well being of a person,
integrating the mind, body and spirit, that is taken into
consideration during one of Jan's treatments. The main benefit of
holistic massage is that it can induce a state of peacefulness and
calm. This form of massage can also complement osteopathy,
physiotherapy or medicine. All of the body's systems can benefit
from therapeutic massage, as well as: back pain, poor sleep
patterns, muscle strain, muscular aches and pains, sciatica,
anxiety, unwanted stress, digestive disorders and headaches. Most
importantly it can leave you with a wonderful relaxed feeling of
well-being. |

Indian Head Massage
This incredibly relaxing massage is part of a
tradition in India between family members and our word 'shampoo'
comes from the Hindi word 'champi' which means 'head massage'.
Although originally restricted to the head and hair, Jan's
techniques can include the neck, shoulders, upper arms and face, as
these are common areas where people hold their tension. Indian Head
Massage involves working with a firm and gentle rhythm to promote a
calm and relaxed state, reducing stiff shoulders, eyestrain,
headaches and tight neck. People also report a complete feeling of
relaxation throughout their whole body. The massage is received
sitting in a chair and takes about 30-40minutes. No oils are used and
no clothes are removed. It's a great way to let go of tension,
especially when very little time is available to you.
