Walks (FREE)

As you are all aware Bank Holiday Monday turned out to be a very wet and cold day so rather than attempting a 6 mile walk in the pouring rain, the fair weather walkers amongst us visited the magnificent 13th century Tythe Barn at Great Coxwell before moving on for a nice pub lunch in the warmth of Radnor Arms.   By the time we had finished eating and chatting however, and much to our amazement, the sun started to shine and it was several degrees warmer. With this encouragement we decided to visit the old fort at Bradbury Hill. You can see by the photographs that at the crest of the hill we were greeted by an amazing carpet of bluebells. Panoramic views can be seen from the hill including the white horse at Uffington.

With sun shining on one side of the hill and dark thunder clouds rolling in on the other side we enjoyed  a short stroll around Bradbury Hill just before the onslaught of another downpour. So despite the weather we enjoyed a very pleasant few hours with good friends.    The countryside is truly beautiful and we plan to arrange another date soon when we can enjoy the full walk and which I hope more of you will feel able to join us on.
